MAN FOUND NOT GUILTY OF SERIOUS FELONY CHARGES-FACED 25 YEARS IN STATE PRISON

Earlier today a 12 person jury returned a verdict of Not Guilty before Supreme Court Justice Timothy Mazzei on the matter of People v. C**** L****. Mr. L**** was originally charged with Rape in the First Degree, Criminal Sexual Act in the First Degree, and Sexual Abuse in the First Degree. The charges stemmed from an incident wherein Mr. L**** originally met the accuser on October 2, 2021 at the Meatball Place in Patchogue and then subsequently went to her home located in Suffolk County. Mr. L**** faced a maximum of 25 years in jail if convicted.

“This is the greatest day of my life,” proclaimed Mr. L****. “Justice has been
served. I said I was not guilty from the beginning. I want to thank my attorney for his hard work on my behalf to insure that I remain a free man.”

His attorney, Michael J. Brown of Central Islip, said the following- “We entered a not guilty plea from day one. It was a long, drawn out fight to vindicate Mr. L****. But justice has no time frame. And we are thankful that after this 2 week trial the jury agreed with our position.”
