SUFFOLK COURT NEWS
A jury before Judge Steven Pilewski, County Court found A. L. Not Guilty on 30 counts including a charge of Burglary in the First Degree and Robbery in the Second Degree. If convicted, the Defendant was facing a potential jail sentence of 25 years in state prison.
After hiring Mr. Brown one week before jury selection was to begin, the attorney went into high gear preparing for A.L’s defense. “Although A.L. waited for the last minute to bring me aboard, I am happy to report that I dedicated all my efforts to his matter and the defense of his case. I was able to investigate and uncover so many issues and inconsistencies with the prosecution’s witnesses. And I successfully brought this out before the jury. Thankfully justice prevailed.” The top count of Burglary in the First Degree carries with it a mandatory minimum sentence of 5 years state prison while a Judge can impose a sentence of up to 25 years in state prison. Moreover, the Robbery in the Second Degree charge has a potential sentence of 15 years in state prison and could potentially be
consecutive.
“Probably the best decision was to hire Michael Brown. He was a zealous, hard working professional who delivered for me and my family. He is an amazing attorney and I owe him my life” said A.L. immediately after the jury returned their verdict.
